Wood Destroying Insect Pest Control - Supervisor

Inspecting
for wood destroying insects is not
actually a required inspection under the "Home Inspector Standards of Practice:"
however, most home inspection companies provide this service.
For many homes
being purchased today, there are no regulations governing inspections for WDIs.
Any home inspector can perform this service. This does not mean you want
just any home inspector providing you with this service. In addition there
are certain types of mortgages that some home inspector's pest evaluation may
not be qualified for.
They will typically have to bring in a separate pest inspector to meet the
needed requirements.
You want and may need for your mortgage a wood destroying insect inspection
report with the state of Connecticut "S" (Supervisor) license for wood
destroying insects. Your Schaefer inspector will provide you with this
report.
To obtain a Supervisor license from the state of Connecticut a person actually
has to become a Pest Control Operator for both inspecting and treating for wood
destroying insects. There are both written and oral tests that have to be
passed. That qualifies a person to "supervise" pest control crews treating homes
for wood destroying insects. We believe treating homes would be a conflict
of interest; therefore, we do not provide treatment services. We only
provide inspection services.
This way, you can be assured that if we report an infestation it is solely for
your benefit, not to obtain treatment work for ourselves.
