• Test carbon monoxide and smoke detectors
• Get heater serviced
• Have furnace inspected
• Check weatherstripping
• Inspect roof for damage
• Direct drainage away from the home
• Replace summer door screens to cool weather storm windows
• Flush hot water heater

October

• Run water and flush toilets in unused spaces
• Clean dryer vent
• Check water softener
• Clean gutters and downspouts
• Inspect the foundation
• Inspect exposed wood for insect damage
• Examine tree branches
• Clean and inspect chimney

November

• Replace batteries in smoke detectors
• Check fire extinguisher
• Examine the underside of the roof in the attic
• Inspect home for signs of water intrusion
• Clean garbage disposal
