Preventative Home Maintenance: Fall Edition
We have all been told it is better to be safe than sorry. Schaefer Inspection Service wants to help you prepare your home for the fall. September
- Test carbon monoxide and smoke detectors
- Get heater serviced
- Have furnace inspected
- Check weatherstripping
- Inspect roof for damage
- Direct drainage away from the home
- Replace summer door screens to cool weather storm windows
- Flush hot water heater
October
- Run water and flush toilets in unused spaces
- Clean dryer vent
- Check water softener
- Clean gutters and downspouts
- Inspect the foundation
- Inspect exposed wood for insect damage
- Examine tree branches
- Clean and inspect chimney
November
- Replace batteries in smoke detectors
- Check fire extinguisher
- Examine the underside of the roof in the attic
- Inspect home for signs of water intrusion
- Clean garbage disposal
