More than 140,000 children in Connecticut experience chronic hunger. As a family-owned business, Schaefer Inspection Service, Inc. knows the meaning of taking care of our children, and the children of Connecticut belong to us all.

Because of the generous referrals from the wonderful Connecticut Real Estate community, in early December we donated $10,000 to the Connecticut Food Bank’s BackPack Program. The BackPack program provides children in need with a backpack full of nutritious food to take home with them on weekends when they may otherwise go hungry. The food is discreetly distributed in backpacks through their schools.

On February 2, a team from Schaefer volunteered at the Food Bank’s Fairfield location and helped assemble 1,100 food packages for the BackPack program. The morning at the Food Bank gave our team the opportunity to do more for this outstanding program and the children it benefits.

We were especially moved by the thank you notes posted in the Food Bank’s office from children who receive the packages we were putting together. Their sweet words and gratitude for something so simple reminded us once again how important our service is to them.

We look forward to volunteering once again on March 17  This time we would like to bring along our real estate colleagues so they can experience a warm feeling while caring for Connecticut’s children. We are looking for a group of at least 10 people in order to make the day a success. A pair of comfortable shoes (you’ll be on your feet for about 2 hours) and some helping hands are all you need to do a world of good!
